Seventy-seven seconds. That is how long the Emirates got to enjoy being top of the league before Reece James swung a deep free-kick in, Declan Rice's header went nowhere useful, Martin Ødegaard lost the second ball, and Morgan Rogers volleyed Chelsea in front from the edge of the box.
Havertz Against Chelsea, Again
The answer arrived on 25 minutes and it came from the man who always seems to score against them. Kai Havertz picked the ball up on the right, carried it infield with nobody willing to stop him, and drove a low shot through Maxence Lacroix's legs and past Emiliano Martínez at his near post.
"I was happy the ball went through the legs of the defender, so it was tough to see the ball for him," Havertz said afterwards.
Riccardo Calafiori had a goal ruled out for offside from a scramble before the break, and Pedro Neto hit the post at the other end. It was that sort of half.
The Dummy
Five minutes into the second half, Christos Tzolis collected the ball wide and slipped it into the box. Havertz let it run through his legs, which took Chelsea's entire back line out of the game, and Ødegaard lashed it in behind him.
David Raya kept it that way with a one-handed save from Estêvão that had no business being a save, and Martínez had to stretch to keep out Saka from the far post. Three games, three wins.
The Arteta Insight
The boss enjoyed the fight more than the football:
"It wasn't the right start but we certainly reacted in an amazing way. I enjoyed the way we competed; we took risks, it was a joy to watch and an incredible game."
On the captain, who has started the season looking like the 2023 version of himself:
"I think he is enjoying his football. His personal life is settled, he is available, he is training, he has his routine. I think he was outstanding today."
Man of the Match: Kai Havertz 🇩🇪
A goal against Chelsea and a dummy that created the winner. Havertz has scored against them in the league three times now, which for a player people spent two years arguing about is a habit worth noticing.
